West Herr Wednesday: Megan Fintak

For many West Herr employees, their co-workers are like family. For Toyota Orchard Park Service Advisor, Megan Fintak, her co-workers are her actual family! We sat down with Megan to learn more as this week’s West Herr Wednesday.

Growing up in Hamburg, Megan graduated from Hamburg High School in 2006, before attending Hilbert College for Business Administration.

While in college, she got her first job at West Herr thanks to her Mom.

“My Mom actually worked at West Herr for a long time. First as a Cashier, then Service Advisor before ending up in the BDC (Business Development Center.)”

At 19 Megan started her West Herr career in the Corporate Office. From there she worked as a Sales Assistant, then Service Assistant and then was at the BDC before ending up in her current role as Service Advisor.

For Megan, West Herr is truly a family affair.

“My sister works as a Greeter at Toyota Orchard Park and my cousin works over at the Subaru store. I’ve also known Paul Slisz (Service Manager) since I was very young.”

Working with family and friends is something Megan enjoys.

“Even the people you’re not related to become like family, because you’re around them so much.”

Growing up, Megan was the furthest thing from a “car girl” as she put it, but now she is responsible for communicating vehicle issues to the service team.

“My job is basically the middleman between the customer and the technician.”

While working in the automotive industry can mean a lot of hours at work, Megan is appreciative of the flexibility her job provides.

“I have two kids, Emma who is nine and Jamie who is four. West Herr gives me the flexibility to spend time with them. Paul is very understanding with me taking off when I need to for my kids. It’s a very family oriented company.”

Outside of work, Megan enjoys traveling and adventure.

“We love going to amusement parks, or going camping and hiking. Being outdoors and exploring is the best.”

When it comes to her future at West Herr, Megan makes it no secret she wants to continue to grow.

“I always say my goal is to become the first female Director of Fixed Operations. I want to grow with the company and see how far I can take it.”

After starting at the company as a teenager, Megan knows that at West Herr, the sky is the limit.


West Herr Wednesday: Melissa Widomski

For this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we visited the East Aurora store to get to know Sales Professional, Melissa Widomski.

Melissa was born and raised in Cheektowaga. She attended Cheektowaga Central, before going to Erie Community College and ultimately graduating from Villa Maria College with a degree in Photography.

“I actually had a job lined up in photography where I interned, but in 2008 the industry took a turn and I knew I had to reevaluate.”

Upon graduating, Melissa was looking for a new vehicle (her old one wasn’t going to last much longer.)

My parents attended the Buffalo Auto show and met Lindsay Wiepert. They told me I had to get in touch with her because she was around my age, similar personality to mine where I would feel comfortable and could help me find a car that would be the best fit for me." 

Melissa reached out to Lindsay, who works at West Herr Subaru KIA and they ultimately found her not only a car, but something even more worthwhile.

“Little did I know that day I’d end up meeting one of my best friends. Lindsay and I have been been friends for over 10 years now and I was thrilled when I was asked to be in her wedding last year."

One day Melissa was at the store for service and it dawned on her that this was the perfect place to start a career.

“I was a couple years removed from college and still looking for what I wanted to do. I realized that West Herr always made me feel so welcomed and taken care of. I wanted to be able to do that for other people.”

Melissa reached out to Lindsay to ask if West Herr was hiring. A few weeks later she started in Sales at the Chevrolet of Orchard Park store.

“I had no experience in automotive, but I met with then General Manager of Subaru/KIA, Tony Farina, and he told me with my personality I’d do great in Sales.”

After a year at the Chevy OP store, Melissa ended up at West Herr Buick GMC Cadillac of East Aurora.

“The store was growing and they asked me to come over and join the team. I was nervous because all I had known was Chevy, but looking back it was a great decision.”

Melissa has now been at the East Aurora store for 6 years and has been able to form a special bond with both her customers and co-workers. It’s no surprise that the people at her store are part of the reason she loves working at West Herr.

“I love the people I work with. I’ve formed so many special friendships, we are like family.”

West Herr and the people she works with have also made it possible for her to grow her own family.

I was lucky enough to be able to join a team and partnership with Tim Bennett. My boyfriend of 4 years and I decided we wanted to grow our family and this allows me to still have my career at West Herr while being a Mother as well."

Melissa’s boyfriend also happens to be one of her co-workers. Dean Snyder is the Inventory Manager at East Aurora and the couple met at West Herr 7 years ago. Their son is due in January and the couple is thrilled for the future.

Melissa also loves how involved West Herr is in the community because it is the place Dean and her plan to stay and raise their family.

“Both Dean and I grew up in Buffalo and we want to plant our roots here. Seeing all West Herr does for WNY makes me so proud to be a part of this company.”

All of Melissa’s family remains in the area as well. Her parents Gerry & Denise (who were High School sweethearts) still live in the home they built, that she grew up in.

Her brother Dan and her are very close and his wife and three kids are a huge part of her life.

"I absolutely love being an Aunt. It is amazing. They keep me on my toes, I try to see them as often as I can."

Despite the busy hours that come with working in the automotive industry, family is a huge part of Melissa’s life. She also still does photography for fun and enjoys concerts/traveling.

“You wouldn’t be able to tell by looking at us, but my boyfriend and I both love rock & EDM music. Our favorite band is ‘A Day to Remember.’ We try and travel to see shows whenever we can.”

While Melissa’s immediate future will be her son, she sees a ton of opportunity at West Herr.

“When I first looked into working at West Herr, I wanted to make sure I could picture myself with the company 10, 20, 30 years down the road. I can honestly say that’s the case for West Herr.”

For Melissa, continuing to grow and push herself both on the professional and personal side are important factors in her life.

“Our industry is always changing and I am a firm believer in wanting to get better.”

When I asked Melissa if there was anything she wanted people to know about her, she talked about always keeping an open mind.

“Every day is rewarding. I am someone who is very organized and likes to plan things out, but in this industry you have to come into each day without any expectations. It’s important to embrace every situation and go along for the ride, because you never know who you’ll meet, or what will come your way. You just have to always live life to the fullest.”

West Herr Wednesday: Brad Connors

For this week's West Herr Wednesday, we got to know Brad Connors, one of our sales & leasing professionals over at our Nissan of Orchard Park store. Brad joined the team back in June and has been an unstoppable force since he came on board! Prior to West Herr, Brad spent a number of years at the Buffalo City Mission in a few different capacities. Brad's experience at the City Mission allowed for a smooth transition into the automotive industry since they have a very important common characteristic: helping people get where they need to be. His passion for communicating with others has made Brad a true fit for both his current position and the company's culture. As a longtime customer of West Herr and brother/brother-in-law of sales representatives, Courtney & Scott Katilus, Brad knew first-hand that this was the right company for him. The unlimited opportunity to succeed was the most lucrative factor that enticed Brad to make the switch to the automotive industry.

When asked what he has enjoyed most about his time at West Herr so far, Brad responded, "The immense support that I receive daily from my managers, Marc, Mike & Nate, and the rest of my coworkers, has really helped me to grow in my role. At West Herr, you are given all of the tools to succeed. It's also great to know that I am working for a company that is completely ingrained in the Western New York community, and I am truly grateful to have this opportunity to grow with the company and build long-lasting relationships with the members of our community."

Brad met his wife, Marisa, through a mutual friend while they were both attending Buffalo State College, and they have been married for three years. Together, Brad and Marisa have been running the youth organization for Grace In Community Church the past two years; it keeps them busy, but they love every moment of it. "We love working with the next generation and making a difference in their lives. Many students just need a bit of direction and teaching them good life skills helps to give them purpose and drive." At home, Brad and Marisa spend much of their time with their very energetic, one-and-a-half-year-old Redbone Coonhood, Daisy.

Brad moved from California to Buffalo at a young age in 1995 and is a true 'Buffalonian' that loves to be immersed in our city's vibrant culture. Brad is a die-hard Buffalo sports fan; he is even attending the Sabres home opener next week and is excited to see what the young talent will do on the ice this upcoming season. Whether it's fishing, hunting or just relaxing, Brad enjoys spending as much time as he can in the great outdoors. One of Brad's favorite outdoor activities is seeing his favorite musicians live. From The Tragically Hip to Joe Bonamassa, Brad has seen a variety of artists and refers to himself as a definite 'concert junkie'. While he was attending college, Brad even worked concert security part-time, which allowed him to see a lot of great shows.

West Herr Wednesday: Rachael Herbst

Growing up around cars, it was easy for Rachael Herbst to get into the auto industry. As this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we visited Chevrolet of Hamburg to get to know more about our Sales Consultant. 


Rachael was born and raised in Lockport, NY. She attended Lockport High School and then the University at Buffalo, graduating this past May.

Rachael was around cars from a very young age. Her Dad and Uncle owned a body shop and her Grandparents had a Cab business.

She also was always at the rack track.

“I was always washing the cars and attending the races. Being around cars just became my comfort zone.”

Rachael’s brother, Brandon, eventually got her into detailing work and the rest was history.

“When I decided to stay in the industry, I knew I wanted to be at West Herr because of the reputation of the company. If you work in the industry locally, that’s where you want to be.”

Rachael started as a detailer at West Herr Honda in Lockport and worked her way up.

“Phil Gonser (Honda General Manager) saw something in me and pushed me into Sales. I was hesitant at first, but he thought I’d be a good fit.”

Rachael moved to Sales Assistant under Heidi Gebler, which ended up being an amazing opportunity.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for Phil and Heidi. Working for her, I got to travel around to the different stores and really learned all the ins and outs of the company. It gave me a leg up for sure. I loved our little team.”

As much as Rachael enjoyed her time at the Honda store, upon graduating from UB in May, she was ready for a new opportunity.

“I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to move up to Sales Consultant at our Chevy Hamburg store. Eric Feathers, who actually hired me as a detailer at Honda, was the one to bring me on. It was cool for things to come full circle as he’s gotten to see me grow in my time at West Herr.”

The opportunity to grow is one of the things that has always made West Herr appealing to Rachael.

“It is a big reason I originally considered working at West Herr. They are always moving people up. They take pride in getting employees to wherever they plan on going.”

While Rachael is very close with her family, she decided to move to Hamburg once she started her new position.

“They are my best friendsThey come and visit me, or I’ll go and visit them whenever I can. We talk on the phone every day and the nice thing is it’s not too far away, but just far enough to feel like I am in a new place.”

Rachael feels like the move to Hamburg has been the perfect fit.

“I absolutely love it. It’s like it was where I was always meant to be.”

Part of the allure of the Southtowns is the fact she LOVES the snow.

“I’m that person everyone hates, because I’m always praying for four or five feet of snow. I have my skis and snowboard in the trunk at all times. As soon as I get out of work I’m going to Kissing Bridge or Ellicottville to get my adrenaline rush for that day.”

During the summer when there’s no snow around, you can find Rachael out on her boat.

“Every Sunday we are out there just relaxing and floating around. Everyone needs hobbies to keep them sane. Sundays are the day I reset for the work week and I do it best being outside with the people I love.”

When it comes to working at West Herr, Rachael loves how involved the company is in the community.

“It’s nice to be able to be proud of where you work. We get so many people who come in because of the money we donate to such great causes and all the events we sponsor. It’s amazing they give back to the place I grew up and care about so much.

She also loves the fact that the store is one big family.

“We spend a lot of hours together at work, so you end up finding your best friends here. We all hangout outside of work. It makes the long days go by quick being with your friends."

When it comes to her future, one thing is clear, Rachael never wants to stop advancing.

“I never want to plateau. I’m the type who is always thinking 100 steps ahead to what I can do next.”

Rachael acknowledges that after being a Sales Consultant, she’ll most likely go into Finance and that she will also continue to do everything she can to move up and help the company.

When I asked her what she’d want people to take away from reading this, she said (laughing) to “always have a lot of snacks at your desk, because there isn’t a lot of time to eat in this business.”

On a more serious note, that it’s important to be open and learn from one another.

“I’m a pretty open person. One of the reasons I love Sales is because I love talking to people and getting to know them. It’s important to learn from one another’s experiences and to build relationships. Hearing other people's perspectives and really taking them into consideration is how you improve in your own thinking.”

Well that, and having plenty of snacks at your disposal!

West Herr Wednesday: Rich Dipaolo

For this week's West Herr Wednesday, we sat down with a well-known member of our Subaru service department, Rich Dipaolo. Rich got his start at West Herr Subaru as service advisor in 2010, back when Kia and Subaru had one shared service department. Before West Herr, Rich had an extensive history on the service side of the automotive industry. After working for another local dealership for 17 years, Rich took a couple years off from the industry and entered back in when West Herr reached out to him about the position. Rich enjoyed the meeting so much that he took the position at Subaru and has been a part of that family ever since. From lot manager to assistant service manager, Rich's vast career history has enabled him to build up his skill set and truly learn the ins and outs of the industry.
  

When asked what he enjoys most about his position, Rich responded "What truly makes me happy about coming into work every day, is being able to make the customers happy. The challenge that I love most is taking a bad situation for a customer and turning it into a positive situation. Having prior experience in the automotive industry, I know first-hand that this is a great company that cares about both their employees and customers. My managers, Ed and Chuck, always create a positive and rewarding work environment, which allows everyone to work comfortably as a team. You can see Scott Bieler's influence right down through the chain of command."

    

When he is not busy with work, Rich enjoys playing ice hockey in his spare time and has been playing the sport since he was 8 years old. Rich even plays in a local hockey league for the team, The 5 Holes. For Rich, one of the most rewarding aspects of being on the team is their involvement with the local community. Their latest fundraiser raised money for a courageous little girl name Adriana, who is currently battling cancer. Rich is also a long-time fan of the Sabres and always makes sure to attend a few games throughout the season.

In the summertime, Rich spends most of his time out on the water on his pontoon, and his favorite spot to boat is "anywhere with water". Rich was born and raised in Buffalo and now resides in Cheektowaga and has a 19-year-old son, Richard III.

Rich is an integral part of the West Herr Subaru family, and we are thankful to have him on the team!

West Herr Wednesday: Laurie Enser

If you work at West Herr, Accounting/Payroll Manager, Laurie Enser, is the one in charge of making sure you get paid! As this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we took a trip to the Corporate Office to get to know more about her.

After being born in Boston, NY, Laurie and her family moved to East Otto when she was very young.

When she got older, Laurie ended up applying to work at another local dealership and never left the industry.

“It was just one of those things where I saw a job opening and applied… and never ended up leaving!”

After 12-years of working as a Service Advisor at the other auto group, Laurie decided that it was time for a change.

“Our Service Area Rep, Mike, told me to apply to West Herr. He said I’d be glad I did.”

22-years later, Laurie is still here and said it was, “one of the best decision I ever made.”

Laurie started at West Herr on July 1, 1996. At the time, the company was nothing like what you see today.

“We were a small group with only around 300 employees and a handful of locations. I was based at the Chevrolet store in Eden at the time.”

Laurie started off on the service end, before graduating to warranty claims and accounting.

As the company grew, so did Laurie’s role, which is one of her favorite parts about working at West Herr.

“Upper management really listens. They will assist you in any way they can to make your employment enjoyable.”

Laurie is now responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of paying all of West Herr’s employees. Having been working now for over 30-years, she hopes to stay in her current role until she retires.

Laurie now lives in Gowanda and is married/has one dog.

Her and her husband, Ron, met through his sister, who was a co-worker of Laurie’s at her previous job. The two have been together for 32-years and married for 22 of them.

Their dog Baxter, is a Pit bull/Akita mix from New Orleans that they rescued following Hurricane Katrina.

“We had just lost our other dog rather suddenly on my husband’s birthday and the house was too quiet. Following the hurricane, some dogs came to shelters in Buffalo and we decided to adopt. It was a sad circumstance, but feels like it was meant to be.”

Laurie is a HUGE dog lover and has had them her whole life.

She also recently had both of her knees replaced and laughed that she can “finally walk again!”

Outside of work, she enjoys antiquing, fishing and taking road trips with no set destination.

Working in the Corporate Office is Blasdell, is a different vibe from working at one of the dealerships, but it is a job and place that Laurie truly enjoys.

West Herr Wednesday: Carmen Alvelo

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, for this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we got to know more about survivor and Chevrolet of Orchard Park Sales Consultant, Carmen Alvelo.

Born in Puerto Rico, Carmen and her family moved to Buffalo when she was 2-years old. After traveling back and forth a bit, they made Buffalo their permanent home.

After working as an assistant to the CEO in the food industry, Carmen was looking for a change. Her childhood friend, Melissa Attea (now General Manager of Chevrolet of Williamsville,) told her about West Herr.

“She said so many good things about the company and how I should consider working there.”

Carmen decided to make the career move back in 2001 and was a greeter for two weeks before moving into sales.

“I was use to a fast paced work environment. I job shared for about a month and then was on my own!”

Carmen, who is a Mom to three boys, enjoyed that West Herr allows you to put your family first, while still being able to take care of them.

“As a single mom, I was always working for my boys. I was able to provide for them and put them through college, thanks to West Herr.”

Carmen also enjoys how the company and the leadership team truly cares about their employees… even during tough times.

“I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer in December of 2010, the day before New Year’s Eve.”

Melissa was there with her when she got the news and despite how scary hearing something like that is, Carmen never dwelled on the negative.

“I never stopped to feel sorry for myself, or looked at it like something bad would happen. I just thought, ok, let’s get this over with.”

Carmen is forever grateful to the support she received from her West Herr coworkers, but especially to President/CEO, Scott Bieler.

“Scott made sure I was seen at Roswell and that my job was here waiting when I got back. It took about a year of chemo and radiation, but I fought through it.”

Carmen said that the entire group was extremely supportive of her battle, but especially her store at the time, Toyota of Orchard Park.

“The girls at my store held a benefit to make sure that me and my boys were taken care of, because obviously I was out of work. Because of what was done for me, I now always feel it is my duty to give back.”

Carmen does that by being actively involved in the community. She is involved in the American Cancer Society, the Ride for Roswell, the Making Strides walk that Chevy takes part in, and also with a scholarship program for young girls.

“It’s a local program where we help raise awareness for breast cancer with young woman of Hispanic, African American & Dominican descent. The disease is not just impacting 40+, but 20-year olds as well. We encourage them to start having the conversations sooner and making sure they are checked earlier on. I’m a big advocate about prevention and mammograms.

Carmen continues to work hard, holding two jobs, but selling cars is something she really enjoys.

“I’m no spring chicken (laughing,) so I see myself one day getting into finance, but for now I really enjoy what I do. Each day is different and I enjoy the challenges that come with that.”

When I asked Carmen what it was she’d want others to know about her, she said that she is always there to talk, especially if you find yourself in a similar circumstance to what she went through.

“A lot of times when people find out they have cancer, the scariest part is the unknown. Being able to talk to someone who can give you an idea of what to expect, helps you put a more positive outlook on it.”

She also hopes to one day be a very involved Grandmother.

“I’m waiting for my boys to make me a Grandma! I was given the opportunity to live longer, so I plan on taking advantage of that.”

Being an empty-nester now, Carmen enjoys each day and lives her life to the fullest, something she stresses is important given what she’s been through.

“It definitely changes your perspective on life, but all you can do is keep moving forward.”

West Herr Wednesday: Jenna Pepper

For this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we took a trip to Subaru/KIA to get to know more about Greeter/Sales Assistant, Jenna Pepper.

Growing up in Hamburg, Jenna was a big-time soccer player. So much so, she was supposed to play soccer in college, before injuries altered her plans.

“I had too many concussions and they said it wasn’t safe for me to keep playing. Now I can only play recreationally.”

Jenna was also working at Outback Steakhouse at the time, but was looking for a change.

“My Mom knew I needed a new opportunity and one day I got home and a West Herr hiring ad was circled in the newspaper.”

Jenna decided to apply and was hired as a Greeter at Subaru/KIA a short time later.

Fast-forward three years and Jenna has now worked in all sorts of positions at the store.

“I’ve done greeting, billing, assisted in sales and even have taken picture of cars… a little of everything.”

While Jenna could see herself moving into a Sales Consultant role one day, for now her plan is to just keep learning as much as she can in her current position.

She credits all she has done so far with the company, to her store’s leadership team.

“The managers at my store have been in a big part of my success, especially my General Manager, Chuck. They are always pushing me to do better and help me with whatever I need, work related or not. Also, the sales person I work for Rachael Heller, has been a big inspiration to me as well. I learned everything I know from her and she’s one of the best sales people I know.”

When I asked what her favorite part was about working for West Herr, she gave me a multi-part answer.

“First off just how much they give back. My Mom was recently treated at Roswell Park for Cancer and I got to see firsthand how much what West Herr gives, helps those going through a tough time.”

Her other favorite part has to do with the people she works with.

“I’ve met so many amazing people. I met my boyfriend Chris who works in Sales here and some of my best friends. Lifelong friends that I have even been in their wedding. I never would’ve met these people if I didn’t work at West Herr.”

Outside of work, family is something Jenna truly values.

“My family has been a huge part of all of my success, I wouldn’t be here without them.”

Jenna is also a dog lover, owning both a Black Lab mix, Jade and a German Shepherd/German Shorthaired Pointer mix, Nelly.

Her and her boyfriend enjoy taking the dogs to Zoar Valley and Chestnut Ridge when they are looking for a chance to get away.

Jenna also is a snowmobiling fan and is a big advocate for her store’s dodgeball tournament, which takes place every couple of months.

When I asked her what she’d like people reading this to know about her, she said that she is a big believer in things happening for a reason.

“Whether it was my Mom reading the newspaper that day and seeing the job opening for West Herr, or meeting my boyfriend through work, I really believe it was all meant to be. Everything seems to happen for a reason.”


West Herr Wednesday: Scott Flick

For this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we went to Williamsville to get to know Sales Associate, Scott Flick.

Born and raised in Cheektowaga, Scott was an art teacher at East Aurora High School for ten years. 

Following his time as a teacher, Scott embraced his passion for drawing and started his own portrait business called “Flicktures.”

“My whole family has always been into sports, but I also really enjoy the arts and drawing. My drawing business allowed me to tie the two worlds together. It was something my Mom and Dad always supported me in from day one.”

Scott had been drawing athletes for some time, but during one Buffalo Bills training camp, he drew a portrait of then running back, C.J. Spiller, who saw the drawing and messaged him about it.

“That’s when Flicktures really took off! I couldn’t stop it now, even if I wanted to!” Scott said laughing.

Scott’s family member, who also happens to be Vice President at West Herr, Bill Loecher, asked Scott to do a NASCAR drawing for him back in 2015 and they got to talking about career opportunities.

“He asked me if I was still teaching and I told him I wasn’t. He wanted to know if I’d consider coming to work for West Herr.”

While Scott never pictured himself working in the automotive industry, he was no stranger to it.

“My Uncle Paul was actually the General Manager of this very store back when it was Jim Culligan Pontiac. In fact he was the one that hired Tom Bull!”

Scott said that him and his cousins would come and hang out at the store when they were young… little did he know he’d end up working there himself.

Being a Northtowns guy, Scott took Bill’s advice and started at the Toyota Williamsville store and is still there today.

Scott considers himself the opposite of a typical car guy, but values the people and the relationships you make in the business.

“For me it is 100% the people. My favorite part about my job is something we call the ‘interview.’ Where you sit down and get to know the customer, where they’re from, who they are; common ground, before the pressure of car payments, or whether they want leather or cloth interior.”

For Scott, his favorite part about West Herr is the leadership from the top down.

“It starts with my General Manager, Pat Schiske. He has been like a big brother to me. After that it is all the managers past and present he has brought in to help lead at our store. They have made a massive difference in my life.”

Scott also enjoys being able to help others.

“You’ll get a family that’ll come in and be tight financially, but when you are able to figure out a way to get them into the vehicle they want and still make it affordable… it’s extremely rewarding.”

Outside of work, Scott is very, very close with his family and his faith.

Scott’s entire immediate family is local and they spend a lot of time together.

“I am a single dad of two amazing kids, Abby who is in 7th grade and Garrett who is in 8th. There’s also my Mom, Barb and I have two younger brothers (Dan and Michael) who I am extremely close with as well.”

Scott’s best friend was his father, who unfortunately passed away in February after a lengthy illness.

“It made it tough to function. I would call him every day after work for three years and he would always start with ‘Hey bud…you sell a car today? I miss those phone calls but In the end it has brought our family even closer together.”

When his father passed the first phone call he made, was to his GM.

“I called Pat right away and told him I wouldn’t be able to come in the next day. He took care of everything and I didn’t have to worry about a thing.”

At his father’s service, Scott couldn’t believe the support he received from his fellow West Herr employees.

“Of the hundreds of people that showed up, over 50 alone worked at West Herr. We’re not talking a quick, in-and-out pop by at the wake. We’re talking staying for hours in support after a long 10-plus hour shift and then sitting and praying with my family during what was likely a busy Saturday shift. Even Scott Bieler, who I had only met briefly at the time, came. He quietly sought me out and then my mother just to pay his respects. He didn’t want any attention for it at all. Before he left I told him because of that, he was stuck with me for life. I’ll never work for any other person again.”

In terms of his future at West Herr, Scott knows where he hopes to see himself one day.

“Aside from getting better at what I do now, I’d love to be involved in some aspect of teaching. Whether that be helping train new employees as a Sales Manager, or whatever the title is. I know I want to help teach employees that are unsure of what we do here.”

When I asked Scott what he wanted others to know about him, he responded with a smile.

“It’s simple… just that you should be nice to others. Try and show empathy for what people may be going through. All you have to do, is be nice.”

West Herr Wednesday: Brian Hise

For this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we went to the shop at Toyota of Orchard Park to get to know Technician Team Leader, Brian Hise.

Growing up in Lancaster, Brian was always in the garage.

“I was always tinkering and fixing things, whether it was bikes, or whatever was around.”

After graduating from High School, Brian knew he needed to pick a career path.

“I went to Alfred State and decided that because of my passion for working in the garage, I’d become a mechanic.”

Once he was out of school, Brian worked at Pep Boys, before a co-worker of his told him about West Herr.

“He was leaving to go to West Herr and I decided to apply as well.”

Brian ended up getting hired at the Saturn store in Clarence as a mechanic and was there for 15-years until the brand folded.

“Once Saturn was no longer around, I had the opportunity to join the team at Toyota Orchard Park.”

Brian joined as a mechanic, but was later offered a promotion to Team Leader and accepted.

“It’s a good fit for me. I really enjoy being in the shop and working with everyone.

As a Team Leader, Brian is in charge of a team of five technicians. He disperses the workload and keeps the service tasks flowing.

Brian’s goal with West Herr is to continue to get better at what he does now.

“I enjoy it because I still get to jump in and help out, while also working with a great group of people.”

Outside of work, Brian, his wife Rosemary and their two daughters, Allison (12) and Julia (13) live in West Seneca and enjoy being outdoors as much as possible.

When I asked Brian what he enjoys most about West Herr, he said it was the flexibility and the people.

“I really thrive with the freedom West Herr provides. They put policies in place to make us efficient, but not to control everything we do. There’s also an open door policy from the top down… all the way from Scott to my direct managers. They really value your input and listen to requests. It’s like a family at work.”

Brian is thankful that he actually enjoys going to work each day.

“A lot of people don’t like their job. I’m very fortunate that isn’t the case for me.”

West Herr Wednesday: Mark Milleville

This West Herr Wednesday, we got to know Mark Milleville, Sales & Leasing Professional over at our Honda store in Lockport! Mark got his start with West Herr back in February of 2016. Before he worked in the automotive industry, Mark worked as a Physical Therapist right out of college, and then moved to a position selling high-end equipment at Monroe Wheelchair. What truly sparked Mark's interest in switching to this industry was his previous experience from being a customer and awareness of West Herr's involvement in the local community. One of our sales managers, Mike Budniewski, invited Mark out to lunch to see if he wanted to come work for the company, and the rest was history! Mark started at our Subaru store in Orchard Park, and then shifted over to our Honda location in Lockport about a year ago, which substantially improved his daily commute from Wheatfield!

When asked what he enjoys most about coming into work each day, Mark responded "Being able to help people has always been my passion, and this position truly allows me to do that. You get a feeling of accomplishment when you are able to get someone into a car that they didn't think they would be able to find. I have been able to meet and interact with so many wonderful people. This field can be tough, but it is extremely rewarding."

Outside of work, bowling is Mark's passion; he plays in a league with his father & brother and has even impressively bowled multiple 300 games throughout the years playing the sport. Mark is also a longtime Dallas Cowboys fan; he gets hassled for it often but makes sure to root for the Bills whenever they aren't playing against the Cowboys. Mark has been a Wheatfield resident his entire life and loves all of the great local spots the town has to offer. Mark and his wife, Melissa, have been happily married for 26 years and have been blessed with two incredible children; a 21-year-old son, Christian, and 19-year-old daughter, Molly. The family also has a couple fur-children, two dogs, Brady & Buster, and one cat, Kiki.

We asked what Mark loves most about working for West Herr, and he responded "Being able to work for a company that has so much respect within the community really provides a feeling of fulfillment. That was what gave me the ability to switch industries so seamlessly. In my role, I am able to further West Herr's good reputation within the community. Chad Wilkie coined the nickname "Dad" for me, and I really do feel honored by that. Everyone within the company genuinely cares about one another, and I always try to make sure that I go out of my way to help everyone that I can."

For this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we stopped by our KIA store to chat with former NFL player and current Sales Consultant, Davonte Shannon.

Davonte was born and raised in Michigan, where his whole family is from.

“Both of my parents were very young when they had me, and my Dad entered the military right after High School.”

Davonte was in a very serious accident in 7th grade, which shook up his living situation.

“My Dad got married while in the military and ended up moving to Pittsburgh, where his wife’s family is from.”

Davonte’s Dad decided to have him come live in Pittsburgh, following his accident, and that is when sports really started becoming a big part of his life.

“Pittsburgh is a huge football town. They are very passionate over there.”

Davonte played multiple sports in high school, including basketball and football, but didn’t start getting recruited by colleges until late in the process.

“I actually had a rival school’s coach approach me at a basketball game my senior year and ask where I was going to college… I didn’t know.”

Davonte’s high school wasn’t a recruiting hotbed at the time, but thanks to that other school’s coach, Davonte was able to get scholarship offers.

“He told me to put together a highlight reel and he’d make sure some school’s got a look at me.”

One of the schools that showed the most interest in Davonte, was the University at Buffalo.

“UB came up and visited me twice. They ended up offering me a full ride and I moved up to Buffalo in August.”

Things got tougher for Davonte as the speed of the college game took some getting used to.

“I remember calling my Dad the first week of training camp and saying, ‘Man… I don’t know if this is for me.”

Davonte’s Dad told him to, “tighten up,” and to remember, “he had been playing football his whole life.”

Davonte slowly worked his way up the depth chart and eventually got into the starting line-up following an injury. After that, he never looked back.

“I ended up being First Team All-Conference and a Freshman All-American.”

His sophomore year the UB Bulls won the MAC Conference and played in a bowl game. His Junior year, he was named one of the team captains.

“My last two years at UB were tougher due to some coaching changes, but I ended up making First Team All-Conference all four years.”

That is an accomplishment that has only been done in the MAC a handful of times… ever.

Following graduation, Davonte ran into a roadblock during his NFL Pro Day.

“I ended up tearing my hamstring running the 40-yard dash.”

This made it tough for teams to properly evaluate him, especially during the NFL lockout shortened offseason, so Davonte returned back home to Pittsburgh to rehab and wait for an opportunity.

That opportunity eventually came when he received a call from the Washington Redskins.

“I got a call from a Virginia number and let it go to voicemail, thinking it was a debt collector or something,” he said laughing.

Davonte’s agent called him a short time later and told him the Redskins were trying to get in touch with him.

“They called me back and said I needed to be ready for a flight in two hours…”

Davonte got together what he could and made his way to DC for Training Camp.

“I remember arriving and seeing all the fancy sports cars at the facility and thinking, ‘this is it’…”

Davonte made it through camp and ended up getting an opportunity to play in the last two preseason games, before ultimately being released by the team.

“Coach Mike Shanahan told me I had a good preseason, but they wanted to go with guys with more experience.”

It was hard for him not to take it personally at the time, despite understanding that it is a business.

His one claim to fame in the NFL is sacking former Bills QB, Tyrod Taylor.

“I was able to take Tyrod down in that game, so I always like to joke around with Bills fans, that that was my big moment.”

After being released from the Redskins, Davonte ended up being signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

“It was definitely a culture shock, I remember landing in Saskatchewan and thinking it was in the middle of nowhere.”

Davonte unfortunately suffered an injury, tearing his hip flexor in training camp and was released due to his inability to play.

Following that, Davonte returned back home to Pittsburgh to rehab and weigh his options.

“I had a few workouts for teams in Buffalo and decided to move back there to keep training.”

Upon moving back to Buffalo, Davonte crashed on a friend’s couch and got a part-time job at a local golf course.

Eventually being 25 though, the pressures of life started to catch up with him.

“To continue trying to play professional football, you have to always be training your body and mind, which makes it hard financially to be able to support yourself doing anything else. I never lost my love, or passion for the game, but there came a point where I had to make a decision."

Davonte also had to figure out a new living situation.

“My friend decided when his lease was up, that he was going to move back home to Tennessee, so I had about a month to find somewhere else to live.”

An older gentleman by the name of James Bentley, who worked with him at the golf course, offered for Davonte to stay with him and his family, until he could get back on his feet.

“To this day, I still can’t put into words how much that meant to me. For a guy that barely knew me to give me a place to stay so I could continue pursuing my dream… I can’t even put it into words.”

While Davonte never made it back to the NFL or CFL, the opportunity to continue to try, made all the difference.

“It was a dark time for me since all I had ever known was football and he gave me a chance to get my life on a new track.”

Davonte ended up living with the Bentley’s for about 3-years and that is when West Herr entered the picture.

“My girlfriend at the time, knew Subaru/KIA General Manager, Chuck Hardy and she knew that they were looking for Sales Consultants.”

At first he wasn’t sure about applying…

“I told her that I’m more of a laid back kind of guy, but she said to give it a shot.”

Davonte ended up meeting with Chuck and now INFINITI/Nissan of Williamsville GM, Mike Garrigan and was hired a short time later.

“It was rough at first… I started in January and it was cold and snowing and there I am outside brushing off cars, but slowly I was able to start getting the hang of it.”

Davonte’s love of people is what drove him to take the chance, but his love for his co-workers is what keeps him going.

“The family atmosphere at out Subaru/KIA store is amazing. The culture we’ve created over there keeps me going. Car sales is not an easy job, but the people I work with make it easy for me.”

Davonte was able to save up enough money to get his own place and he continues to invest in the people who helped get him there.

“There’s not a person I don’t see at work that I don’t stop and ask how their day is going.”

His GM Chuck has also continued to play a huge part in his life, even four years after starting at West Herr.

“I told Chuck when I started, that since I don’t have any family up here, I was listing him as my emergency contact because he was the closest thing I’ve got.”

Chuck giving him an opportunity at West Herr, has allowed Davonte to support himself and also save to support a future family.

“He’s always there for me no matter what. My co-workers are my family up here in Buffalo.”

Outside of work, Davonte still works out and plays basketball in his free time, but watching sports continues to be his ultimate passion

“If you ask my girlfriend, or anyone who knows me, they’ll tell you how seriously I take my sports teams. I’m pretty superstitious, so if they lose, I’m blaming someone or something.”

Davonte roots for the Lakers, Penguins, University of Michigan football, North Carolina basketball, UB football/basketball and… the Patriots.

“When I sell people a car, I usually leave the Patriots thing out until after we’ve signed the paperwork,” Davonte said laughing.

“I know Bills fans love their team, so I don’t rub it in their face until after the deal is done.”

Davonte said he catches a lot of grief for rooting for the Pats, but being a Michigan native and Tom Brady having attended Michigan, is where his fandom originates.

In terms of what his future holds, Davonte takes each day as it comes.

“I take it one day at a time. I’m constantly trying to get better. Each year I sell a few more cars and continue to see more avenues that I can eventually take.”

Davonte’s favorite part though, is being able to help people.

“I know it’s a job and the end goal is to make money, but I love people so much, that I can’t help but want to help them. I have to break down barriers when people show up, because they have a misconception of car salespeople, but I just try to let them get to know who I am as a person.”

Davonte is also thankful for West Herr’s leadership team.

“Both Scott (CEO,) Jed (COO) and the other directors come around and visit us at the stores. It means a lot that they truly care about their employees and ask us how we’re doing, because they don’t have to do that. Plus Jed is a Michigan football fan, so I like him even more.”

Davonte explained to me that he lives by something he calls the “Three F’s.”

“Faith, family and football. I am a devout Christian and I am very close with my Dad who is still in Pittsburgh. My family has been there for me through all my ups and downs.”

Davonte said he still has people tell him weekly he should get back in shape and make a comeback.

“I get people who still remember me from my time at UB. They always tell me… ‘Davonte, the Bills could use you!’ I laugh, but truthfully I’ve made peace with football, even though it will always be my passion.”

Davonte concluded the interview by telling me he is a big believer in things happening for a reason.

“Football opened so many doors for me. I got to travel all around the world and meet so many amazing people. It also led me to Buffalo and eventually to West Herr… and for that I am thankful.”

West Herr Wednesday: Matt Payen

For this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we visited Nissan Orchard Park, to get to know Finance Manager, Matt Payen.

Growing up in Haiti, Matt’s father was an English/Spanish Professor, while his mother worked for the government.

“My Dad made sure we knew both English and Spanish from a very young age. I’m not as fluent in Spanish anymore, because I don’t use it as often, but I also know French and Creole.”

Due to the political unrest in Haiti, mixed with his desire to live in the United States, Matt moved to Queens, NY when he was 16 to stay with his Aunt and Uncle.

“I decided to finish high school at Hillcrest High School. I used to visit my family in NYC all the time growing up. My Mom figured if I was going to go to college in the States, I should experience it beforehand.”

Despite moving to the United States over ten years ago, Matt still sees his family as often as he can.

“My parents come up and visit me twice a year. My sister currently lives in Belize, so despite us being all over the world, we still Skype/talk on the phone when we can.”

When it came time to apply to colleges, Matt put in applications at several SUNY schools including the University at Buffalo.

“UB was one of the first ones to accept me. They also had a strong program and I loved the big campus. Another plus was that the school was affordable compared to schools closer to NYC. I decided to at least go for a visit.”

After visiting, Matt was sold and moved to Buffalo that August, despite never having heard of Buffalo, prior to applying to colleges.

“I lived in the dorms for my first two years and then some friends and I moved off campus together.”

After his sophomore year, Matt also realized Buffalo was where he wanted to remain.

“My Freshman year it was a bit of an adjustment, but I fell in love with the area and knew this is where I wanted to make my home.”

Matt has always had an interest in cars and actually began majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a plan to go into Automotive Engineering.

“After about two and a half years, I decided it just wasn’t for me, so I switched my major to Economics, but never lost my passion for cars.”

Matt ended up working at another local automotive group during college as a detailer, before taking a job as a Sales Operator at Best Buy.

Upon graduating from UB in 2012, Matt saw that West Herr was hiring and decided to apply.

“I saw an opening at the Business Development Center, which sounded pretty similar to my job at Best Buy and had a meeting with Jill Wheeler & Kevin Leigh, who ultimately thought I’d be a better fit for Sales.”

About a month later, Matt started as a Sales Associate as Nissan Orchard Park and has been at that store ever since.

“The General Manager and my Managers were very hands on and helpful when I started. They really showed me the way and made sure I was comfortable.”

One of Matt’s favorite parts about working at West Herr, is how involved the leadership team is.

“It’s amazing because Scott Bieler (CEO) will just stop in and visit us and he knows everyone’s name. My first two weeks in Sales I didn’t know what he looked like and I remember he walked into the store and I gave him a “West Herr Welcome,” Matt said laughing.

“He even played along with it. Later on my GM told me who that was and to this day it still makes me laugh.”

After four years in sales, Matt wanted to continue to push himself, which is why he moved to finance.

“I really wanted to keep growing and that is something West Herr always supports, so I moved into the role a year ago and I’ve been here since.”

Matt is always trying to master whatever job role he is in, that way if another opportunity to grow comes along, he is ready.

When it comes to living in Buffalo, Matt has lived in Williamsville, West Seneca and now Lancaster.

“I am still trying to get use to the snow/cold. I realized living in the Southtowns was a little too much for me, but I love working there. It’s not always the easiest commute, but it’s nice to turn on the news and see a lot of snow down south, but look out my window and only see a few flakes,” he said laughing.

In his spare time Matt enjoys binge watching TV shows like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Office & Stranger Things. He is also into action/thriller movies.

“Aside from that I also like to play basketball and make beats on my computer. I’ve always been into music and it’s just something I like to do for fun.”

Mullane Motors acquired by West Herr Auto Group

The West Herr Automotive Group is pleased to announce we have acquired the assets of Mullane Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram at 6200 S Transit Rd, Lockport, NY and the location will be officially renamed West Herr Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Lockport. 

Mullane Motors originated in Niagara Falls, NY in 1928. They moved to Lockport after WWII in 1945. Paul Mullane began working at the business after graduating from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan in 1981 and purchased the business from his father and uncle in 1998. He is a fourth-generation dealer.

Mike Tepfenhart, a long-time West Herr employee, has been appointed as General Manager of the dealership that will retain approximately 40 existing employees. That number is expected to grow to approximately 50 employees as the volume of the store increases. Former General Manager, Ben MacDonald will stay within the West Herr organization at a different location. 

This will be the third Chrysler location for West Herr, joining West Herr Dodge and West Herr Chrysler Jeep which are in Orchard Park, NY.

West Herr Wednesday: Courtney Katilus

For this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we went to Toyota Orchard Park, to get to know Sales Consultant, Courtney Katilus.

Courtney was actually born on the West Coast in Ventura, California, before her family relocated to Orchard Park at a very young age.

“My Dad’s family is from here and I ended up growing up literally two miles down the road from the dealership. Orchard Park is really all I’ve ever known.”

Despite moving to Buffalo, Courtney still has family in California, that she visits when she can.

“My Grandma, Aunt, Uncle & some cousins all still live out there.”

Courtney majored in Criminal Justice at Erie Community College’s South Campus and was working part-time for a security company prior to working at West Herr.

“At 19 I thought I wanted to go into law enforcement, so I was doing security part-time. In the winter it got slow and my husband (then boyfriend,) who had just started at West Herr Chevy Hamburg, told me about the job opening at Toyota.”

Courtney applied and was hired, part-time as a greeter.

“I worked as a greeter for about six months, until I graduated from school.”

Courtney enjoyed working at the store so much that she asked the Vogel’s if she could work for them.

“They ended up hiring me and I worked as their Sales Assistant for about nine months. They taught me so much about selling cars and then I knew I was ready to go on my own.”

Courtney started as a Sales Consultant back in November 2014 and will be celebrating her 6-year anniversary at West Herr next month.

When it comes to what she enjoys the most about working at West Herr, it includes flexibility and the store’s leadership.

“I really enjoy being able to help others and I’m a very outgoing person. Justin Rojek (General Manager) is actually the one who hired me and I have always enjoyed working under him. He is considerate, especially when it comes to being flexible with me being a Mom.”

Courtney and her husband Scott (who still works as Chevy Hamburg) have a 15-month old son named Parker, who receives most of Courtney’s attention outside of work.

“Between work and my son, there isn’t too much extra time, but my husband and I are also very big into our Church… Lovejoy in Lancaster. He plays the drums at Church and I sing/play piano.”

Aside from music, Courtney also writes a motherhood blog, which highlights all sorts of things that mothers go through.

“It’s great because it has received a lot of positive feedback from other Moms.”

Working at West Herr is also actually a family affair for Courtney.

“My husband and I met when I was 11 and then were good friends for a long time before we started dating when I was 18. He was my brother, Brad's best friend at the time, who now also sells cars at West Herr Nissan Orchard Park.”

In fact, Courtney and her husband actually job shared for close to a year.

“When I was out on maternity leave, we ended up job sharing for about a year, so that one of us could always be home with our son. Eventually we decided it was time for both of us to go back to work. I missed the people and the store.”

When it comes to her future at West Herr, Courtney is certainly open to growing.

“Right now I know we want to have more children, but if the opportunity came along to go into management down the line, that’s something I would definitely be open to. At the end of the day, I don’t ever see myself not working here.”

When it comes to what she wants those reading to know about her, Courtney and her husband both try to live a good example of a Christian life.

“At the same time, I’m still human and I still mess up… but that’s the point. No one is perfect and that is why I believe that Jesus is my Savior.”

Jaguar Buffalo sold by West Herr Auto Group

The West Herr Automotive Group has finalized an agreement with Northtown Automotive Companies to sell our rights to Jaguar Buffalo effective today, December 18th. This decision was driven by the manufacturer’s requirements to remodel the entire Jaguar facility, and align with their overall strategy to have Jaguar and Land Rover represented at a single dealership in the area.  

The store has always performed at the highest level and has been recognized as such with Jaguar on multiple occasions.  We could not be more proud of our employees’ efforts over the years with Jaguar, and we sincerely thank them for their contributions.  Additionally, we are happy to announce that the majority of our employees in both sales and service will be staying with West Herr and have accepted positions at other West Herr locations.

As a part of the transaction, we have agreed to take over the development rights to the Jaguar Land Rover open point in Syracuse, NY. We are excited to explore the opportunity to grow our presence in New York and will continue evaluating this next year.

Our growing Ford and Lincoln sales and service business in Amherst, NY will be expanding into the former Jaguar Buffalo space to accommodate additional services and customer amenities. Work will begin in early 2019.

Transit Rd in Lockport and is officially renamed West Herr Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Lockport.  This is the 3rd Chrysler location for West Herr, joining West Herr Dodge and West Herr Chrysler Jeep in Orchard Park.

Mullane Motors has been an esteemed member the Lockport community for many years. Early last week, we were honored to have their reputable team join the West Herr family after our acquisition of the location. For this week's edition of West Herr Wednesday, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get to know a longtime member of the Mullane Motors crew, Sales & Leasing Professional, Steve Whalen!
 
Steve just needed a job at the time when he first got his start 34 years ago in the auto industry, but he quickly fell in love with the position! After working at a smaller dealership for a couple years, Steve joined the Mullane team 32 years ago and has been there ever since. As a lifetime resident of the Lockport community, the Mullane location was the perfect place to launch his career. He even went to school with members of the Mullane family! Needless to say, they are a very tight-knit team, and we strive to carry on that tradition as we welcome the store into the group. Steve's daughter, Sheila, has even joined our CDJR Lockport team as a part-time sales assistant, and we are excited to have them both on board!
 
We asked Steve what his favorite part of the position is, and he responded "Just having the ability to meet new people all the time. Being able to make customers happy by finding them the car they've been searching for is truly a rewarding experience. I've been able to establish so many valuable relationships over the years."
 
We also asked him about his initial impression of West Herr - "I've been very impressed so far. The team has been extremely welcoming, and I haven't had a bad first impression with anyone that I've met. Scott Bieler even came over to my desk to speak to me directly. Not many company owners will take the time to do that."

Steve is no stranger to the Lockport community; he was born and raised in that area and still resides there to this day. Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending quality time with his entire family. Steve and his wife, Margaret, have been happily married for 33 years and have two children, Sheila & Patrik. He also has three adorable grandchildren, Liam, Braeden & Lena. Whether it's golfing or fishing, you can find Steve outdoors when the summer months come around! Another passion of Steve's is travelling, and his favorite place to visit is Aruba.

When asked what West Herr can do to carry on Mullane Motors' highly-regarded reputation, Steve told us "Mullane always made sure that taking care of both the customers and employees was a top priority. We have established such a wonderful customer base throughout the years, and providing them with a positive experience has always been very important to us. From what I've seen so far, West Herr seems to share those same company values."

West Herr Wednesday: Corey Karmazyn

For this week’s West Herr Wednesday we took a trip to Ford Hamburg to get to know Service Advisor, Corey Karmazyn.

Growing up in Silver Creek, Corey started as a mechanic at a local shop.

At the time, Corey knew West Herr was up and coming and decided it was something he wanted to be a part of.

“I actually took a pay-cut for the opportunity to work here.”

Corey started as a Technician at the Quick Lane in Hamburg, but quickly started moving up.

“A short time after I started, I was approached about moving up in the company. It was a great opportunity early on.”

Corey ended up as a Manager at Quick Lane before moving around a bit between main service departments at Ford Hamburg and Nissan Orchard Park.

“At the time I wasn’t sure how to handle it all and decided to actually leave West Herr for a brief period of time. I quickly realized West Herr was where I belonged and within a few months was trying to claw my way back into the company.”

Corey got his opportunity to return at Ford Amherst, before ending up back at Ford Hamburg, where he is now a Service Advisor.

“Service Director, Tim Gannon, has really taken me under his wing since I’ve gotten back and helped me see a path for myself.”

The opportunity for growth is in fact one of the things Corey likes the most about working at West Herr.

“I came to work here at a very young age and there has always been that opportunity to continue to learn and move up. In my time away from West Herr, I quickly learned why they are the standard for dealerships in this area.”

Corey now lives in North Boston and his family and two dogs, Baxter (Pit bull) & Lily (Australian Shepherd) are his life. They are also why he works as hard as he does.

“At the end of the day my main goal is just to be able to provide for them and give them as good of a life as possible.”

Corey's wife Ashley is his support system, especially when it comes to his career.

"She really is the rock behind everything I do. Family is really important to me and I can't stress enough how much my wife drives me. I'm definitely a family guy, through and through."

Corey also wouldn’t mind returning to management one day, if the opportunity presents itself.

Outside of work, Corey is a huge Bills fan and enjoys all Buffalo sports teams. He also is into fitness and the outdoors.

“Recently I got really into golf. I always thought it was for old people, but once I started, I became hooked.”

When it comes to what Corey lives his life by, it centers around resiliency.

“I really believe in never giving up. I could get punched in the face twenty times, but I’m going to keep coming. At the end of the day, failures lead to greater success.”
